It is no surprise that emotional intelligence is being recognized as an important part of success in business. An article published in Forbes this month claims intelligence is overrated. Instead, what is necessary for success is emotional intelligence, moral intelligence, and body intelligence.
Noteworthy excerpts from the article:
- 85% of your financial success is due to skills in “human engineering,” your personality and ability to communicate, negotiate, and lead. (Carnegie Institute of Technology)
- 15% is due to technical knowledge.
- People would rather do business with a person they like and trust rather than someone they don’t. Even if the likeable person is offering a lower quality product or service at a higher price. (Nobel Prize winning Israeli-American psychologist, Daniel Kahneman)
- Improve your emotional intelligence by creating awareness about your internal dialogue and having healthy coping techniques when under stress.
